Norway's Prime Minister Poses as Taxi Driver to Hear from 'Real People'
Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg is in the midst of a tough reelection campaign, so in an effort to get some actual advice from real voters he did what any head of government should do: He became a taxi driver for a day.
Though Stoltenberg hadn't driven a car since taking office eight years ago, he decided the driver's seat of an Oslo taxi cab would be the best place to hear the honest opinions of his constituents.
"If there is one place where people say what they really mean about most things, it is in a taxi," he told a local newspaper.
Asked if driving a taxi full time was in his future, Stoltenberg told VG, "I think the country and the Norwegian taxi passengers are best served if I'm the prime minister and not a taxi driver."
