No One Seems to Know Where Casey Kasem's Body Is
The body of legendary radio host (and voice of Scooby-Doo's Shaggy) Casey Kasem, reported missing last week from a Tacoma, Wash. funeral home, still hasn't been found. Kasem's corpse was reportedly located at another funeral home in Montreal on Monday, but that facility now denies having it.
An unnamed employee of Urgel Bourgie in Montreal told BuzzFeed there was no record of Kasem being checked into that home, and Montreal police said they didn't escort the body from the airport.
The Gaffney Funeral Home in Tacoma confirmed it no longer had Kasem's body, but didn't say who had removed it.
The prime suspect is Kasem's raw-meat-throwing widow, Jean. At the end of Kasem's life, when he was unable to speak or look after himself, Jean was engaged in a battle over his custody and medical care with Kasem's daughter, Kerri, and moved him frequently to keep him away from her.
Since his death, the family feud has focused on a possible autopsy. Last Wednesday, a judge in Washington state granted Kerri an injunction that prevents Jean from burying or cremating the body until a court decides whether to order an autopsy at the facility of Kerri's choice. That hearing is scheduled for July 25.
Jean Kasem is also under investigation for elder abuse, after Kerri Kasem filed a report alleging Casey's life was knowingly put in danger.
