Nine Injured in Shooting on Bourbon Street in New Orleans
New Orleans police say that nine people have been injured in a shooting early this morning on Bourbon Street.
Police spokesman Frank Robertson told WDSU that the shooting happened at 2:45 a.m. in the French Quarter, after which victims were taken to the hospital. Original reports stated that seven were injured in the gunfire, but Robertson said more injuries were reported later this morning. From WDSU:
Robertson said seven people were listed in stable condition and one person, an unidentified woman, was listed in critical condition. Another person's condition wasn't immediately known, Robertson said.
An eyewitness told WWL-TV that the shooter appeared to shoot one person intentionally before opening fire on the crowd:
"He seemed pissed off at some dude, pulled the gun out and started shooting at the guy then turned around on the crowd and started shooting at us."
