News Anchor Does Broadcast Holding Ream of Paper He Mistook for an iPad
When BBC News viewers tuned in to watch this morning's broadcast they were dumbfounded as to why veteran newsman Simon McCoy was introducing a story about privately run drunk tanks while holding what appeared to be a heavy ream of photocopier paper.
Was he perhaps a bit tipsy himself?
A BBC statement to the Press Association later clarified the bizarre scene. Well, kinda:
This morning as Simon McCoy was preparing to introduce this story, instead of picking up his tablet to hold as he went to air, he mistakenly picked up a ream of paper that was sitting next to it.
In the rush of live news, he didn’t have an opportunity to swap the items, so simply went with it.
Poking fun at his own Anchorman-ish flub McCoy signed off with this perfect tweet:
Stay classy, United Kingdom.
