I guess Deen finally came to her senses and settled. Six months too late.

No, she didn't settle. She did promise not to countersue. That's all.

Where did you see that? Everything I saw mentioned that there would be no payment of legal fees, but didn't say there was no monetary settlement.

NPR. I didn't "see" it. I heard it. Don't know if their website has the story yet.

They just have the AP story up, which says:

A document filed in U.S. District Court in Savannah said both sides agreed to drop the lawsuit "without any award of costs or fees to any party." No other details of the agreement were released. The judge in the case had not signed an order to finalize the dismissal.

I would be very surprised if there wasn't a monetary settlement.

Reminder: this doesn't mean she's not racist, nor does it mean she didn't discriminate. It means her lawyers convinced some other lawyers not to keep the case going. But ya'll just jump to your conclusions.

Reminder, this is on the sexual harassment case. The racial component of the case was tossed out.

Yeah, but not on the merits of the case — tossing that part said nothing about the validity of the claim, only the accuser's right to seek monetary damages for it.

Also, this doesn't mean that she is racist, or that she discriminated.

In the end the plaintiff and the plaintiff's lawyers got what they wanted. MONEY!!!

You do understand that lawsuits seek money, to makeup for wrongs, right? Grwa zinger though. Also, there was no financial settlement - did you read the link, or just immediately start commenting despite not knowing what we're talking about?

Anything for a buck.

Right, because the entire legal community should have refused to represent Deen.

Look at that picture. Does it contain the entire legal community?

But of course, someone was going to represent her. And the rest of us can sit here judging the shit out of that whore.
