'Miracle' Weeping Tree Outside Church Is Actually Crying Bug Crap
Over the last week, congregants from St. John's Cathedral in Fresno, California, have been steadily amassing around a tree outside the church that they believe is weeping the tears of God.
"When you say ‘glory be to God in Jesus name’ the tree starts throwing out more water," parishioner Maria Ybarra told WPTV.
Though the Roman Catholic Diocese of Fresno has yet to officially weigh in on the "miracle," one supernatural-bubble-bursting scientist has an excremental explanation for the phenomenon that worshipers probably won't like.
"The aphides [also known as tree lice] will suck the sap, the sap goes through the aphid and then it is a honey dew excrement from the aphid and it gets so heavy in the summertime that it will drip down," arborist Jon Reelhorn told the local NBC affiliate.
Reelhorn says the aptly named Crape Myrtle tree outside St. John's isn't the only one dripping with bug crap — he found another "divine weeping tree" across the street.
But Ybarra refuses to have her faith tested by some know-it-all tree expert and his irrefutable facts.
"I can tell you looking at it from a scientific standpoint and a spiritual standpoint it is the work of God manifesting here on earth," she said.
