A farmer in the Italian Alps filmed an ominously slow moving avalanche that oozed down a mountain Thursday and slowly ate up everything in its path.

The footage was shot in the Passiria valley in South Tyrol, Italy. The river of snow poured down for more than five minutes, eating residences at the base of the mountain and blocking road access to the area.

Residents of the village were evacuated by helicopter and car and no one was hurt.
