Marshal Who Shot and Killed a Six-Year-Old May Have Been Arguing With the Boy's Dad
Cops are now reportedly investigating claims that one of the Louisiana marshals who shot and killed a six-year-old last week had a prior, antagonistic relationship with the child’s father.
Investigators are still trying to determine what sparked the shootout, which left the father, Chris Few, hospitalized and his son, Jeremy Mardis, dead.
Initial reports that Few had a warrant out for his arrest and/or backed his car into the marshals were quickly invalidated, and Few’s lawyer says body cam video shows he had his hands in the air and did not pose a threat when the shooting began. One Louisiana police officer describes the video as “the most disturbing thing I’ve ever seen.”
Both marshals—32-year-old Lt. Derrick Stafford and 23-year-old reserve officer Norris Greenhouse Jr.—are in jail facing second degree murder and attempted second degree murder charges. But their motive is still unknown.
Now Few’s girlfriend, Megan Dixon, is telling reporters Greenhouse and Few had a prior relationship. Via NBC:
Dixon over the weekend told a local newspaper that Greenhouse, a former high school classmate, had started messaging her on Facebook and had come by the house that she and Few were sharing at the time.
“I told Chris, and Chris confronted him about it and told him, ‘Next time you come to my house I’m going to hurt you,’” Dixon told The Advocate of Baton Rouge.
Cops are reportedly investigating the connection.
