Man Stabbed to Death Over Wedding Leftovers and Cans of Sterno
A 58-year-old man was stabbed to death at a wedding, allegedly by his cousin, after he tried to take some leftover food and some cans of Sterno.
Juan Martinez suffered stab wounds to the legs after a vow-renewal ceremony at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in The Bronx Sunday night, police said. He died of the injuries at St. Barnabas Hospital. The only suspect, his cousin, is in custody.
"They fought about who was going to take the cans of Sterno, which was being used to heat food at the ceremony," a police spokesman told the New York Post.
"We have a person in custody, and we are speaking to him. It is early on in the investigation, but we feel confident that we have the right person," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce added.
