Randolph Sanders was arrested by Philadelphia police over the weekend after he confessed to killing his boss. He told police he decided to kill Kim Jones because he suspected she was planning to report him for allegedly stealing money from the child advocacy group they worked for.

On Jan. 13, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports, Sanders followed Jones to her bus stop, walked up to her as she leaned against a wall—gospel music playing in her headphones—and shot her in the back of the head before walking away. From the Associated Press:

Clark called it "a premeditated assassination-style murder" and said detectives worked around the clock for two weeks reviewing hundreds of hours of surveillance video. They were able to track the suspect from the bus stop to a vehicle 3 miles away and made their big break when they discovered Sanders drove the same kind of vehicle, Clark said. They brought him in for questioning Saturday, and that's when he confessed to killing her, authorities said.

Jones, 56, ran Families and Schools Together, a child advocacy organization that includes an after-school outreach program, and hired Sanders as the group's assistant director two years ago. The program has a contract with Philadelphia's Department of Human Services. She was reportedly suspicious that Sanders, 36, had misappropriated around $40,000 in funds, and according to WPVI, was apparently en route to report him the day she was killed.
