I was amazed at the number of people going to see (and reviewing, apparently) Kick Ass 2 who apparently don't get the premise of the underlying joke at all. Even in the theater, half the people were laughing at the underlying ridiculousness of the send-ups and the dialogue, and half were just sitting there stone-faced until there was an action sequence.
In case we were in the same theater, I got it. I didn't laugh because it was bad.
That's okay, opinions are like that.
I experienced the same thing when This Is Spinal Tap came out.
American moviegoers are getting dumber and dumber: i.e. They chose to see Grown Ups 2 instead of Pacific Rim.
I'd watch it but staring at Forest's eye drives me insane.
Go to 1:48.
Nooooo!!!
*maudlin tuba notes*
That is both horrible and hilarious.
Shouldn't it be "Lee Daniels's The Butler"?
I'm floored that KA2 tanked so hard. I wasn't planning on seeing it because the trailer left me thinking, "Didn't I already see this plot in Spiderman [2002]?"
IMDB really needs to work on its rating system, 7.5?
It kind of makes sense that the people who saw KA2 already were predisposed to enjoy it, seeing that they went to see it within a day of release, and therefore they would rate it highly. That number will only drop. And the fucking Shawshank Redemption is the highest-rated movie on IMDB. So, you know, take it for what it is.
That's because it plays on TNT 5 times a week.
Shawshank Redemption was pretty damn good, though, whereas Kick-Ass is just shit.
Shawahank is pretty fucking awesome.
