Kelis' "Milkshake" Had A Cameo During the Scripps Spelling Bee
The lyrics to Kelis' 2003 masterpiece "Milkshake" somehow worked their way into using the word "feijoada" in a sentence. Both words are nouns, but Kelis is not singing about a stew of black beans and pork native to Brazil.
In the leadup to him eventually winning the whole shebang (with Ansun Sujoe), Sriram Hathwar asked that "feijoada" be used in a sentence, to which Dr. Jacques Bailly (who won the Bee in 1980) offered, "While Tabitha discovered that her milkshake brought all the boys to yard..."
There hasn't been an explanation for the slip up and maybe there shouldn't be.
