Jurors Keep Death Penalty Open for Dark Knight Gunman James Holmes
Jurors have voted to keep the death penalty open for James Holmes, who was convicted last month of murdering 12 people during a 2012 screening of The Dark Knight Rises in Aurora, Co. The trial will now move to the third phase of the sentencing phase, during which jurors will decide if Holmes receives the death penalty or is sentenced to life in prison.

On July 15, Holmes was found guilty of 165 charges, including 24 counts of murder the first degree and 140 counts of attempted murder, for the July 20, 2012 shooting, which left 12 movie-goers dead and another 70 injured.
