Yesterday, some 34 years after the alleged incident took place, Janice Dickinson told Entertainment Tonight that she had been raped by Bill Cosby—but we might have known about her story a years ago had her book publisher not gotten in her way.

A clip of an interview Dickinson did with Howard Stern in 2006 was uploaded to YouTube today, and it features Dickinson—who was promoting her third book at the time—speaking about why she was not able to write about Cosby. "Bill Cosby was the only guy I couldn't write about in the book because HarperCollins was afraid of lawsuits," she tells Stern.

At the time, Dickinson stopped short of saying Cosby raped her, and she seems to leave Stern under the impression that HarperCollins was so afraid of Cosby that they wouldn't even let her accuse him of adultery. But she does say in no uncertain terms that Cosby is a creep: "The guy's a bad guy, let me just say that. He's not a nice guy. He preys on women that have just come out of rehab, I'll say that."

At the time of this interview, in 2006, Cosby had been accused by multiple women of rape, including in a lawsuit that included a dozen unnamed accusers. That HarperCollins either did not say anything about this or chose to ignore it makes them no different than the rest of America.
