James Franco used an appearance on Live With Kelly and Michael this morning to talk about his Tuesday night attempt to hook up with a 17-year-old Scottish schoolgirl over Instagram.

"I'm guess I'm, you know, embarrassed, and I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky," the 35-year-old actor said, confessing to using "bad judgment."

"In my position, not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone, but sometimes it gets published for the world."

It's worth noting that Franco brought the incident up himself. Either he really wanted to address the situation, or he's setting up an incredibly complicated promotion for his new film. In Palo Alto, Franco plays a soccer coach carrying on a relationship with one of his teenage players.

The trailer came out on Tuesday, the same day he told Lucy Clode to tag him on Instagram.
