Jackie Chan's Son on Road to Recovery After Beijing Weed Bust
Son of famous film actor Jackie Chan, Jaycee Chan, was arrested in Beijing last Thursday for getting too familiar with his friend Mary Jane. That is: weed.
The 31-year-old actor and singer was busted for allegedly having 100 grams of marijuana in his home. He also reportedly tested positive for the drug. His arrest was part of a countrywide effort to eradicate all illegal drug use in the country.
According to the Associated Press, Chan is now making efforts to begin recovery for his abusive weed use.
Jaycee Chan's management, M'Stones International, apologized to the public on his behalf for the "social impact" caused in a statement on their website. It said they would "supervise his rehabilitation and help him return to the right path."
The AP reports that in Beijing alone, more than 7,800 people have been apprehended for drugs since the crackdown began in June.
Chan was detained along with fellow actor Kai Ko, who later tearfully apologized on CCTV.
"I feel very regretful, very sorry to all the people who support me... I've been a very bad example, I've made a very big mistake," Ko said. In a statement online, his management company, Star Ritz Productions, said Ko had received a 14-day detention and also apologized to the public.
If charged, Chan could receive a maximum of three years in prison for "accommodating drug users," which is a bigger deal than just doing the damn drugs yourself. Don't let people get comfortable in your home with all the drugs you've got!
