Italian Nina De Chiffre kissed a police officer last month during a protest of a high speed rail line in Turin. It made for a pretty incredible photo. It was also, according to the police officer, sexual assault.

Turns out, De Chiffre didn't see her kiss as an act of peace or reconciliation either. She kissed the officer out of protest and, according to the Huffington Post, "licked her fingers and tried to press them to the officer's mouth before she was pushed away."

Sounds a little bit less tender than it did before. For the police officer's side of the story, the police union argues: "If I kissed her on the mouth, wouldn't it be a violation? If a police officer had kissed a random protester, the third world war would have burst."

De Chiffre has been charged with sexual assault. She has stated that she would rather be prosecuted than have her kiss seen as anything near an act of peace.
