Israel is claiming that on Sept. 11, Israeli authorities arrested an Iranian-born spy who was carrying photographs of the US Embassy in Tel Aviv.

Ali Mansouri, who also lived in Belgium, was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport as he tried to leave Israel under the name Alex Mans. According to an Israeli press release, Mansouri "was plotting to set up a spy network in Israel under the guise of a businessman who marketed services to restaurants and stores."

Mansouri apparently ran a windows and roofing business that he used as a cover.

According to the Jerusalem Post, Mansouri was sent to Israel to "set up a base for Iranian intelligence and terrorism networks." Mansouri allegedly admitted during questioning that he was promised $1 million in exchange for harming Israeli and Western interests.

Mansouri's attorney told CNN that his client's situation "is more complicated than what was introduced by the (Israeli General Security Service)."
