The Islamic State slaughters innocents with abandon, destroys precious antiquities, and starts frivolous beefs on Twitter. And yet it still manages to ensnare youths from around the world—but has it gone too far now?

The above image, distributed by ISIS propagandists, shows what appears to be a bonfire made from confiscated cigarettes and large bushes of herb that are very possibly marijuana; tobacco and cannabis are both considered haram and wicked under their wack interpretation of Islam.

Although there have been reports of ISIS fighters buying bud from Lebanese farmers, their official cultural views remain deeply hostile to modernity and its decadent pleasures. Why isn’t the State Department’s anit-ISIS counter-programming pushing this harder?
