ISIS Executes Three Civilian Captives by Tying Them to Columns and Blowing Them Up

The Islamic State tied three of its captives to Roman-era columns in Palmyra, Syria and killed them by blowing up the structures with explosives, activists in the ancient city, captured by the Islamic State in May, told the Associated Press.

One activist, who goes by the name Nasser al-Thaer, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, told the AP that the three captives—civilians—were executed on Monday afternoon. Their identities are not known.

Also this week, ISIS posted photographs to social media that purportedly showed militants driving a tank over a government soldier, apparently in revenge for his having earlier done the same thing to their comrades in arms.
