Inspector Who Surveyed Collapsed Philadelphia Building Commits Suicide
A building inspector in Philadelphia committed suicide a week after a downtown building collapsed, just a short time after he had examined it. The accident killed six people. The inspector's body was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his chest on Wednesday. Ronald Wagenhoffer was 52.
Authorities report that the building collapsed onto a thrift store while a heavy equipment operator, Sean Benschop, was high on marijuana. He faces six charges of involuntary manslaughter, one charge of risking a catastrophe, thirteen charges of reckless endangerment. The building fell on June 5, after the inspector looked at it on May 15.
