Holy shit, are we seriously still discussing "whether" this is happening...? Wow.
I used to think "maybe our species just doesn't deserve to survive" if we can't get our fucking ducks in a row on this topic. But after taking a more nuanced view of Darwinism into account, I've modified my stance instead to "the unevolved among us don't deserve to survive". It's time for the throwbacks and the right-wingers to find their own planet.

Take my mom, smart, literate, computer savvy, taught me to be the analytical person I am today, but because she was raised in Texas on conservative regressiveism and religion she thinks global warming is just a scheme cooked up to make money off of... what exactly I'm not sure.
We've been sending probes to other planets for decades now and she's only just recently come around to the fact that the planets don't revolve around the sun in a perfect circle.
An ideology implanted at a young age can be more powerful than empirical data for a great many people (I would even hazard to say most people).
I wasn't suggesting there were people among us who were literally genetically unevolved, just that their views were, metaphorically so.
I agree that it is absolutely how they were raised and what factors influenced their ability to learn new information, especially in formative years. It wouldn't be hard to raise a child as an ignorant conservative. All it takes is generous servings of fear-based lessons and a dash of "ends justify the means" in their foundation of reasoning.
I kinda got that, but I'm always wary about people describing evolution as anything other than what it is as other people reading such hyperbolic usage can and will use it to further cement their own backwards understanding of it, since they won't bother to look at the context.
Just a personal foible based on many (sad, I don't want to live on this planet anymore) experiences.
