What that sign lacks is a way for people to indicate whether or not they think that Capitalism can work for everyone. My social democratic ass considers it to be a tool that can be used for both the subjugation and the elevation of the common man.
Whenever Capitalism isn't working for the people, questions need to be asked.
It also lacks a useful definition of capitalism. The people who think hardcore Randian ultracapitalism works are going to be a tiny minority, but if your definition ranges from that to a Scandinavian welfare state, it's hard to argue with.
Exactly. Markets are great at creating wealth. They're a tool that can be harnessed in many different ways. Making sure that said wealth is distributed well enough for everyone to get by, while still rewarding free enterprise seems like the way to go to me.
You sound like a commie to me.
Real talk: I never go to work on May Day. I don't call in sick. I don't take a mobile vacation day. I just don't show up.
That said, I totally work for the man. Make of that what you will.
Since people in this country are taught throughout their lives that capitalism is next to Godliness, the vast majority of numskulls wandering around Times Square will feel it's a straight-up "sin" (those things God keeps track of that can keep you out of His theoretical heaven) to suggest there's anything whatsoever wrong with capitalism. Um...it'll win big.
And especially the tourists that decide Times Square is worth visiting. Excellent username, btw
I wonder if the people who say FALSE, automatically get a one way ticket to Cuba?
If you push 'false' a trapdoor opens up under you and you fall into an underground factory where your body is processed into Bentley and Jaguar wax.
eh. North Korea is a better option. The Dolphinarium needs inhabitants.
Sigh. Because the only alternative to capitalism is authoritarian state socialism. And Cuba never did anything good in the world, say, in Haiti or Africa or Latin America, motivated, yes, by its own strategic interests, but also by an ethos and set of values antithetical to capitalism. Oh, and because capitalism = freedom. And we have freedom in the United States.
[So much freedom that anyone who disagrees should be banished to Cuba.]
Fucking idiot.
Say what you will, but the guy's font choices are incredible.
