Husband Murders Wife, Posts Photo of Body on Facebook
A South Miami man has apparently confessed to murdering his wife in a Facebook post that was followed shortly by a gruesome photo of the woman's body.
Derek Medina, 31, told his Facebook friends he was "going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife," adding, "love you guys miss you guys take care Facebook people you will see me in the news."
He went on to justify his actions by claiming that his wife had been punching him.
"I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope you understand me," Medina wrote.
A photo posted on Medina's wall [warning: gore] just moments later shows a woman believed to be Jennifer Alfonso bent backwards against kitchen cabinets with her face and arms covered in blood.
The post was captioned "Rip Jennifer Alfonso."
Police have confirmed to CBS Miami that Medina is the lead suspect in Alfonso's shooting death, which took place this morning at the couple's townhouse.
A 10-year-old girl found at the home was unharmed.
Police said Medina arrived at a South Miami PD station following the incident and turned himself in.
Medina and Alfonso had been married for about a year. A photo taken and posted on Facebook less than 24 hours ago shows the couple enjoying a meal outdoors.
According to his Facebook profile, which has now been removed, Medina was a featured extra in a 2009 episode of USA's Burn Notice.
