A hungry young bear fell through a skylight into a kid's birthday party on Wednesday and ate all the cupcakes. This happened in Alaska, obviously.

The homeowner Glenn Merrill explains, "I was literally in the [living] room, and I heard this cracking. And the next thing you know, there's this bear that, I mean, literally, fell right from [the skylight]. It was like one meter away from me." Apparently, this kind of thing can happen in neighborhoods close to a bunch of trees. The bear didn't hurt anybody.

The wildlife management coordinator who reported to the scene says the incident was not unusual. "Bears are extremely curious and will stake out any source of food they can find," said Ryan Scott. "There probably isn't a neighborhood or place where we have homes where the potential isn't there for you to run into a bear or observe a bear. There is really no place where the potential isn't there." (If you are in Alaska.)

According to Reuters, the bear was "destroyed," which is really not the best euphemism for "killed." R.I.P. the bear.
