A freight train collided with a tractor trailer in Rosedale, Maryland, near Baltimore this afternoon, causing a derailment, damaging nearby buildings, and ultimately leading to an explosion that residents felt miles away.

The Baltimore Sun reports that the train's cargo is at this point unclear, but amateur video of the raging fire and massive explosion that followed the initial crash suggest that at least something incendiary was present. Hazardous materials teams are currently on the scene.

Residents and businesses in the area say the explosion was powerful enough to shatter windows and rattle pictures from the walls, but, amazingly, early reports claim there are no serious injuries (there were only two passengers aboard the train, both of whom were fine). One potentially hurt victim is the trailer's driver, who the Sun says was "extricated" and whose condition is now unknown.

Here is a short video of the explosion (NSFW):

Update: The Sun is now reporting that the tractor trailer driver is at the "Maryland Shock Trauma center in serious but stable condition."
