A Brooklyn gym teacher was reportedly fired over a flirty Instagram photo of him and a former student posing together on New Years.

John Ramirez was removed from the school and sent to a rubber room last week when school officials caught wind of the photo. The girl pictured kissing him on the cheek reportedly graduated from the high school the year before and had played for a flag football team he coached, the NY Daily News reports.

"These are serious allegations, and we took swift action to remove Mr. Ramirez from the classroom," Education Department spokeswoman Devora Kaye told the newspaper.

Kaye apparently declined to elaborate on the nature of the allegations or the laws or regulations Ramirez is suspected of violating, but the Daily News quotes an "inside source" at the school who suggests the relationship began when the girl was still a student.
