Here's the First Vine from Space
First, Vine showed us illicit acts with a Hot Pocket, and now, Vine shows us space. NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman posted the first Vine from the International Space Station over the weekend, which shows one 92-minute Earth orbit compressed into 6 seconds.
As Wiseman explains, the sun never sets during the orbit because the ISS is traveling parallel with the day/night terminator line, which marks the line between light and dark on the surface of the Earth. The ISS and the terminator line link up in the weeks around the the summer solstice, the date when the Earth's North Pole is tilted a full 23.4 degrees toward the sun.
Astronaut Mike Massimino sent the first tweet from space in 2009.
