Here's a Trailer for the Necessary, Literal Remake of Romeo and Juliet
British deviser of upmarket period soap operas, Julian Fellowes, has left the Abbey of Downton and put his mind to adapting a story about the trendiest star-crossed couple in literature onto the big screen like never before. It's set in the time that it was set in—so expect flouncy dresses, masks, swordplay, balconies, and probably no Hawaiian shirts or "Verona Beach" goofin'.
The trailer features full on exposition of this oft-ignored theatrical work, so don't worry if period pieces confuse you. Basically these two teens crush on each other, but their families are like fuck no.
Hailee Steinfeld will play the main girl part, and she showed everyone what was what in True Grit, so that's good. Her crush will be played by Douglas Booth, who previously starred opposite Miley Cyrus in a movie actually called LOL. The rest of the cast is solid! Damian Lewis, Paul Giamatti, Ed Westwick (Chuck Bass, ha), and Stellan Skarsgard.
The adaptation will hit theaters on October 11, so everyone who has previously encountered this unsung work, keep your hats on about spoilers, please.
