"This small black dog comes running and gets under the fence, and Hitler said, 'My God, what is this? Racial mixing?'" What a ham, but seriously how did this guy escape the Nuremberg trials?
Being a bodyguard doesn't necessarily mean that he committed war crimes. I think war crimes charges were reserved for policy makers and those who were directly involved in the concentration camps. But I'm not entirely sure. Otherwise, every German soldier would be a war criminal simply because Hitler was one.
It doesn't sound like he did anything except be a bodyguard and secretary type for the SS. Well, so he says, but anyway.
Well, he was just a bodyguard. The trials were for anyone who had executive control or direct knowledge of the genocide.
Its like the distinction between a German soldier and an SS officer.
You can't fault the guy for what amounts to being in an awkward position at a bad time.
It'd be like trying the Secret Service for war crimes for protecting the President.
It's hard to imagine that he knew less about what was going on in the camps than anyone else in Hitler's inner circle, but I am sure you are right.
"This small black dog comes running and gets under the fence, and Hitler said, 'My God, what is this? Racial mixing?'"
Oh Hitler, you card!
That motherfucker must have been a HOOT at Game Night. Eva was so lucky.
"He was such a prankster. He always talked about how, if given the chance, he would try to make an entire race of people disappear from the face of the earth. We always asked him how he would do that, how would he disappear them, and more interesting to us was how he would make them reappear. He would become solemn then. It was only after the war that I sought to tell the world that he was just a failure as a magician. Only half a trick...Can you imagine the misunderstandings this has caused?"
He missed the Prestige. The Prestige is the most important part. You should see Hugh Jackman's Transportable Man!
I don't doubt it, his secretaries all praised his politeness and kindness towards them and their families. He also loved animals and was a vegetarian.
Those close to Osama Bin Laden also said he was extremely modest and kind even to those in his organization who stole or broke other rules.
They were both human beings, not supernatural monsters.
Kind to those they deemed on their "side."
True.
He was a vegetarian only because he had some variant of irritable bowel syndrome, and his doctors told him to adopt a vegetarian diet to deal with it.
....he had some variant of irritable bowel syndrome...
Maybe that was the real reason behind the Holocaust.
