George Zimmerman’s estranged wife Shellie Zimmerman, 26, spoke to Matt Lauer about her husband Thursday morning on Today, revealing that she might have misjudged his character. Just a little bit. “This person that I’m married to, that I’m divorcing, I’ve kind of realized now that I don’t know him,” she told Lauer. “And I really don’t know what he’s capable of.”

This is Shellie Zimmerman’s first interview since the Sept. 9 incident in which her husband, 29, might have threatened her with a gun and then smashed her iPad. Both sides declined to press charges, but she expressed regret in not doing so:

"In hindsight I should've, and I really regret that, but I'm on probation and the officers made it very clear that day if I pressed charges we were all going to go to jail and I would've been the only one to stay there,'' she told Lauer.

Lauer then asked her: “So you now doubt his innocence, at least the fact that he was acting in self-defense on the night that Trayvon Martin was killed?"

“I think anyone would doubt that innocence because I don't know the person that I've been married to," Shellie responded. "I have doubts, but I also believe the evidence."

But like any good public breakup, Shellie Zimmerman made clear that she’s over the drama and just working on her now, you know? "I've lost 40 pounds since the trial,” said the soon-to-be singleton. “I'm really taking care of myself and moving forward with my life.”

In related news, it turns out George Zimmerman has been pulled over for a third time since his July 2013 acquittal. Brevard County Highway Patrol Officers confirmed they pulled him over for improper tag display and excessive window tinting in August—after his first speeding incident in Texas—letting him go this time with a written warning.
