Today, on June 30, we gain what is known by women and men of science as a “leap second,” a rare occurrence where our normally twenty-four hour day is blessed with one teensy extra moment of bliss to wash over us like a dragonfly kiss. You must be wondering about the science of this extra second, and thankfully the LA Times has happily laid that out for you here. We are not a website of science.

We are a website of gifts and today, on this day where gifts are abundant in number, here’s another: several free ideas for what to do with your extra second. These ideas are free—no charge. Not sure how best to utilize this gift from our benevolent universe? Why not try these on for size?

  • Stretch your right index finger
  • Blink once or twice
  • Think about all you’ve accomplished (burn)
  • Lay on your bed completely still
  • Change into a tuxedo like the quick-change artists on America’s Got Talent
  • Imagine where you’d go now that you are in this tuxedo—perhaps to the finest Italian restaurant downtown?
  • Wear the shirt you were already wearing :) That tuxedo thing was exhausting
  • Smile till your mouth hurts and all the muscles in your jaw are shaking
  • Imagine being rich
  • Imagine being dead
  • Imagine living like a wise man
  • Imagine yourself as a poor man stealing
  • Text a close friend even if you don’t have enough time to hit send; it’s the thought that counts and they’ll know that you were thinking about them
  • What emoji is your favorite? Write it down—too late
  • Move around some Bitcoins in the market, etc.
  • Eat pray love
  • Peanut butter jelly time

Second’s up.
