Ex-Cop Alludes to Killing Teen Daughters in Suicide Note
Authorities say the retired Westchester, N.Y., police officer who killed himself early Saturday morning after fatally shooting his two teenage daughters left a suicide note behind.
Harrison Police Chief Anthony Marraccini told the New York Post that Hochman left a note for his wife, Anamarie, in which he alluded to the murders and detailed instructions on how "to get things in order for the family."
"The note was really one page—the rest of it was pretty much instructions on what to do, financial information, etc," Marraccini said. "He did indicate in the letter that the two girls were taken away."
The daughters, Alissa, 17, and Deanna, 13, were found in their bedrooms. Both had been shot in the head. "There were no signs of a struggle, indicating they were killed in their sleep," Marraccini said, according to the New York Daily News.
The 17-year-old daughter's boyfriend reportedly found Hochman dead with a .40 caliber gun in his hand; all three of his dogs were found shot to death nearby. From the New York Post:
Anamarie was on an overnight trip to Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut with her eldest daughter, Samantha, and a friend during the horrific tragedy. She grew concerned when no one picked up the phone at the Harrison house and asked Alissa's boyfriend to look in on her family.
The boyfriend walked into the house through the garage, where he found Glen dead. He immediately ran out and called the cops. Anamarie's friend had also phoned the police as they were driving back from the casino.
Three cops soon arrived at the house and discovered the two teenagers dead in their bedrooms.
According to the Daily News, Marraccini said "marital issues" and discussions about a possible separation likely played a role in the shooting. "I could probably say that it could be a factor in the incident," he said.
