Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's Sister In Custody After Making Bomb Threats
Ailina Tsarnaeva—sister of accused Boston Marathon bombers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev—turned herself in to New York City police Wednesday evening after allegedly making bomb threats during a telephone call.
According to the New York Post, Tsarnaeva's motivation was romantic, not ideological—she reportedly threatened to blow up her boyfriend's ex.
Police say George Briones, Tsarnaeva's boyfriend, is currently embroiled in a custody battle with his ex-girlfriend. The dispute apparently motivated Tsarnaeva to call the woman on Monday, telling her, "Leave us alone. I know people who can put a bomb on you."
Tsarnaeva reportedly turned herself in Wednesday after the woman complained to police. She's been charged with misdemeanor harassment.
