Donald Trump Manages to Involve Himself in Two Skeevy Sex Scandals
Donald Trump's good friend, convicted pervert Jeffrey Epstein is back in the news, but that's not the only creepy sex scandal the fluffy bouffant has peripherally involved himself in—he also fired a woman from his TV show because she didn't want to reach out to Bill Cosby.
The season premiere was filmed about a year ago, months before mounting rape allegations irrevocably ruined Cosby's reputation. So when the cast found out they needed to contact rich friends in order to raise money for a bake sale, it's understandable that Pulliam's teammates leaned on her to call up her (as-of-then-relatively-untarnished) former TV dad. Pulliam (who was her team's project manager) awkwardly declined, cryptically saying she opted instead to reach out to "people I felt can deliver the quickest." Cosby went unmentioned for much of the rest of the episode. Then came the boardroom. The two teams were summoned to appear before Donald Trump and co-judges Ivanka Trump and Piers Morgan. Pulliam's team had come up short in their fundraising, and her teammates took aim at her.
The episode was shot before the allegations against Cosby began picking up steam, and in it, Trump sharply criticizes Keshia Knight Pulliam—who played Cosby's daughter on The Cosby Show—for not wanting to reach out to her TV dad.
Calling Cosby "a gentleman," Trump ultimately fired her from the show, saying "I really believe, if you'd called that gentleman, he would've helped you, even if you hadn't spoken to him in years because you were an amazing team with one of the most successful shows ever."
In November Trump—who had a year to edit the scene of himself firing a woman clearly distraught at the prospect of contacting Bill Cosby—told reporters Cosby needed a better PR team.
To say Trump has a history of commenting inopportunely on skeevy sex scandals would be an understatement—in 2002, years before Jeffrey Epstein's egg-shaped penis became a matter of public record—Trump described Epstein as a "terrific guy."
"I've known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,'' Trump booms from a speakerphone. "He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life."
Reliable judge of character, that Donald Trump.
