A documentary and book, both set for release next month, claim that five unpublished books written by J.D. Salinger will be released, including stories that continue the arc of the Glass family and his most famous creation, Holden Caulfield.

Salinger died in 2010 after living the majority of his life in famous near-seclusion, never releasing another published work for over forty years. The new documentary "Salinger," claims that he left instructions to his trust to publish five more of his books, beginning as soon as 2015.

One collection would be called “The Family Glass," which continues the story of the Glass family, about whom Salinger wrote in his book "Franny and Zooey" (and elsewhere). “The Last and Best of the Peter Pans,”another series of stories, long rumored to exist, would follow Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of Salinger's best-known work, "Catcher in The Rye." The documentary also claims a book will be published about Salinger's understanding of the Vedanta religious philosophy, as well as a novel set during World War II.

The film's director, Shane Salerno, claims that two “independent and separate" sources who were close to Salinger confirmed to him that Salinger gave instructions for the books to be published. And while fans of Salinger have been through this all before, this would be the strongest confirmation yet by people close to the estate that they plan on publishing his life's work posthumously.
