Early Thursday morning, a man shot and killed a 17-year-old boy that he caught in his teenage daughter's bed.

The tragic incident reportedly occurred after the 16-year-old girl's younger brother went into her room to say goodnight and spotted two feet sticking out from under the bed. The younger brother then told his father, who stormed into the room and reportedly found the teen in his daughter's bed.

During the ensuing confrontation, the daughter initially denied knowing the boy, identified as 17-year-old Johran McCormick. The father responded by calling 911 while holding the boy at gun point.

When McCormick dropped his hands, the father opened fire, allegedly because he thought the teenager might be reaching for a gun. McCormick, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was later found to be unarmed, and the daughter eventually admitted to knowing him.

After the shooting, the father, whose name was not released, was taken to the hospital for treatment for an unrelated medical issue.

"You just feel terrible for the families," one neighbor told MyHouston.com. "You just kind of reflect on both of these families' lives have changed forever."

The Harris County, Tx. Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting and will present their findings to a grand jury, according to KHOU.
