As late-night TV experiences a number of shakeups, Craig Ferguson, the Scottish host of The Late, Late Show, has announced he'll be leaving CBS at the end of the year.

Ferguson has been hosting The Late, Late Show since 2005, and though his contract was up at the end of this year, he says in a statement that he will no longer seek to stay on.

"CBS and I are not getting divorced, we are 'consciously uncoupling,' but we will still spend holidays together and share custody of the fake horse and robot skeleton, both of whom we love very much," referring to two favorite props on the show.

The announcement comes only weeks after David Letterman announced his retirement in 2015, with speculation that Ferguson would not be asked to move into the 11:35pm time slot. That position ended up in Stephen Colbert's hands.

Who is the likely replacement for Ferguson's 12:35am spot? A woman perhaps?
