Comedian Crowdfunds Funny Words in the Sky
Proving once and for all that there is no Kickstarter project so silly that people won't throw money at it, funny New Yorker Kurt Braunohler was able to successfully raise nearly $7,000 for his campaign to write funny words in the sky.
Why:
I think we can all agree that life is pretty bleak place to be a lot of the time. Often you might even think, “Who thought this was a good idea to begin with!?” (God – what a jerk.) But I think that if there’s a way we can, just for a fleeting moment, give strangers an unexpected gift of absurdity, then I think we can make the world a slightly better place.
And so, with the help of 257 backers, Braunohler surpassed his goal of $4,000, and was able to dispatch a skywriter to scribble the crowd favorite — "How do I land?" — in the clouds above LA.
For the record, the above photo is a composite. As Braunohler explained to his investors:
The actual day had a very high winds, and the letters appeared and disappeared quite quickly. But if you watched the sky for 20 minutes you could probably piece it together. BUT WE STILL DID IT!!!
