Christmas Disaster: Leg Lamp Stolen from Liquor Store's Window Display
Don't you touch that! You were always jealous of this lamp.
A liquor store in upstate New York has suffered the opposite of a Christmas miracle, truly, after its Christmas Story-themed display was robbed of its pièce de résistance last Thursday: the leg lamp.
The leg lamp thief was caught on camera scoping the scene for snitches at Yankee Spirits in North Tonawanda before he grabbed his prize and ran:
Store owner Gary Brennan told WIBV he was "furious" with the theft, adding, "It's made me so mad, I want this guy's face out there." On Facebook he wrote, "This is our signature theme for our Christmas decorating. He is a worthless individual. He will be caught."
With as much dignity as he could muster, the liquor store owner gathered up the sad remains of his Christmas Story-themed window display. Later that night, alone in the backyard, he buried it next to the garage. Now I could never be sure, but I thought that I heard the sound of "Cops Theme" being played, gently.
