A Chicago train car derailed early Monday morning, barreling through the O'Hare Airport station and running halfway up a flight of stairs before coming to a stop.

Over 30 people were injured, though most have already been released and the rest are expected to recover quickly. The train "climbed over the last stop, jumped up on the sidewalk and then went up the stairs and escalator," said Chicago Fire Commissioner Jose Santiago. It could have been much worse: the crash happened at 2:55 a.m., at the Chicago Transit Authority's lowest ridership time.
