Memphis police have taken a neighbor of the victim into custody in the fatal shooting of off-duty police officer Terence Olridge Sunday afternoon, reports the Associated Press.

Lorenzo Clark (pictured) turned himself in peacefully and has thus far only been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm in connection with the shooting, which is still under investigation. The AP is describing the event as “an argument that escalated into a shootout,” and reports that multiple garage doors in the suburban neighborhood show bullet holes.

A court affidavit says Clark told police he had a 9mm Glock handgun in his pants, took the gun out and started firing several shots in the street. The affidavit says Clark fired “several shots which resulted in a death.”

Clark’s prior felony conviction came in 2003, when he was sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to two weapons charges related to brandishing a firearm in a public place.

FOX News is reporting that the two men exchanged gunfire after a heated exchange, but that only Olridge was shot.
