A scare at a Paris memorial in the Place de la République on Sunday sent crowds running in panic, fearing another terror incident after the attacks on Friday night. CNN was there to record the scene, showing startling footage of people running for their lives.

Police cleared the memorial on Sunday, without telling mourners why, according to witnesses who were there. The area was cleared after the initial panic, with reports saying that there was not another attack. One reporter told CNN that he’d “never seen anything like it” before.
The area is calm now, and officials have yet to say why it was cleared in the first place.
