In Newhart's famous series finale, the titular character wakes up at the end of the episode to find the whole series was a dream he had in his last series, the The Bob Newhart Show. During the lead-up to the finale of Breaking Bad, fans joked that it would all be revealed as Hal's dream from the equally brilliant Malcolm in the Middle.
