Young love: so magical when it happens in movies, so annoying when it happens in real life because this Chili's is for everyone and families are trying to eat dinner here. Sophomores dating juniors. Cheerleaders dating lacrosse captains. Brothers dating sisters. Everything cool except that last one.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the 20-year-old daughter of Bobby and the late Whitney Houston, wants everyone to know that, like most of us—especially those of us with ugly brothers—she is not in an adult romantic relationship with her brother. At least, not her "real" brother.

In a Facebook post beginning with the line "YES, we me nick are engaged [sic][sic][sic]," Brown addressed a popular misconception that she and fiance Nick Gordon are adoptive siblings.

While Houston unofficially "adopted" Gordon when he was 10 (inviting him to live in her home "after learning that his birth mother could no longer care for him") and referred to him as "son," Brown's post stressed that they are not related by blood and that formal adoption papers were never filed.

While the rumors of incest certainly weren't helped by the pair's tendency to refer to one another on Twitter as "big brudder" and "baby sis" prior to dating, it's pretty obvious that they're not doing anything too weird (or illegal) here; they're basically very close childhood friends who both grew up in a neighborhood known as Whitney Houston's house. One could argue that they're a better match than say, Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, who knew one another for three months before becoming engaged.

In her post, Brown observed that her mom (who "knows me better than any of you") predicted the two kids would start dating (perhaps because they were randy teens spending tons of time in close quarters supervised only by Whitney Houston).

Here's the full text:

YES, we me nick are engaged. I'm tired of hearing people say "eww your engaged to your brother or if Whitney was still alive would we be together or would she approve of this." Let me clear up something, we aren't even real brother and sister nor is he my adoptive brother. My mom never adopted him. In fact, mommy was the one who even said that she knew that we were going to start dating. My mom knows me better than any of you. A lot of yall are saying that yall are only saying this all out of love. Which is bull because if that was so, all you would want is for me to be happy. People need to seriously stop judging my relationship. Pretty sure it's my own decision who I want to be with. Yes, my relationship may not be perfect. We will have rough patches, just like every other relationship. And we have had our rough patches. You may or may not agree with my relationship. You may or may not respect it. Judge me, go ahead. Your opinions are yours and mine are mine. It is my life and not yours. The decisions I make have nothing to do with you. Goodnight

Goodnight, everyone.
