Barbara Walters Calls Kim and Kanye "Fascinating," Mocks Them
[There was a video here]
Last night, the final episode of Barbara Walters' Most Fascinating People aired (she's retiring in 2014), and she seemed completely ready to be done. She wasn't nearly as goofy as last year, and her resting face is a scowl. Babs is tired.
Her fatigue was never more overt than during the segment devoted to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian (seemingly begrudgingly included, on Walters' part). Babs ran down his better known public outbursts to mock hypothesize why Kardashian would have fallen in love with him. She pointed out Kardashian's lack of any discernible talent multiple times. She reminded us that in 2005, West told her, "I'm not into dating celebrities." She reminded us that in 2011, Kardashian told her that being married to Kris Humphries was "good." And on and on the tongue-in-cheek roasting went.
Maybe Babs has a complicated opinion of Kimye (I strongly believe that to love Kanye is to mock Kanye). She assures us in the segment, "I've interviewed them both before, and I like them." I don't know, maybe she's just a crabby old woman who's sick of all of this shit, particularly Kanye's and Kim's shit. Get some rest, Barbara.
