Elusive British street artist Banksy, whose art showed up in a number of places in New York last fall, is scheduled to widely share new art on the third anniversary of the Syrian Civil War over the next few days.

The new art is a reworking of a popular Banksy piece called "Girl With A Balloon." It comes with it a new hashtag—#WithSyria—that is expected to be shared far and wide to mark the third year of violence in the country, from which over 100,000 people have died.

A promotional video for the new campaign, narrated by Idris Elba and soundtracked by Elbow, is here, and leads to a campaign that asks world leaders to "end bloodshed and suffering." March 13–15th will see a global vigil, in part coordinated by Banksy. According to the BBC:

The image of a girl with a balloon will be projected onto various international landmarks on 13 March, among them the Eiffel Tower and Nelson's Column.

Banksy's particular involvement in the Syria conflict is highlighted on his website:

On the 6th March 2011 in the Syrian town of Daraa, fifteen children
were arrested and tortured for painting anti-authoritarian graffiti.
The protests that followed their detention led to an outbreak of violence
across the country that would see a domestic uprising transform into a
civil war displacing 9.3 million people from their homes.
