Baby Born on DC Metro Platform Gives Birth to Deluge of Twitter Jokes

This morning's birth of a baby on the platform of Washington (DC) Metro's L'Enfant Plaza — Child Plaza! — station practically wrote its own jokes, but hundreds of Twitter users volunteered to transcribe them anyway.
According to a Metro spokesman, the unnamed 23-year-old mother went into labor around 10:30 AM while riding a Green Line train, and an off-duty EMT who happened to be on board jumped in to assist.
Almost exactly one year ago to the day, a 22-year-old woman went into labor on the same line, but was able to make it to a hospital.
As there was no time this time to rush the woman to a hospital, the EMT proceeded to deliver the child right there, near the 7th Street exit.
Happily, the baby boy was born healthy, and the mother is also doing well, allowing the Twitterverse to safely focus on the most important part of the #MetroBaby story: How perfectly it lends itself to humor.
Did you charge it a fare? MT: @MetroTransitPD: A baby was just delivered ON THE PLATFORM at L'Enfant Plaza.

Baby will go down in history for being the first person to ever arrive ahead of schedule at a Metro stop.

"Excuse me, is that your baby?"

I have to imagine that getting the baby off the platform was difficult with all the tourists blocking the exits #MetroBaby

#MetroBaby named as #WMATA CEO. Plans roll out to charge increased fare for baby deliveries. Possible peak delivery time charge considered.

Stupid baby, probably doesn't even know to stand to the right.

Just thinking of all the money #metrobaby saved his parents by not being born in hospital. Wish my kids had been as thoughtful.

And here's a fun fact: The birthday of French architect and civil engineer Pierre L'Enfant, the station's namesake, is tomorrow.
