The attorney general of Mexico announced that investigators have seized 44 tons of marijuana in Tijuana, right across the border from San Diego, Ca. Officials had a federal warrant to investigate the Familiares del Matamoros neighborhood, where they discovered the stash.

This isn't the biggest bust authorities have made in the area, where several tunnels have been burrowed and discovered beneath the border. The largest seizure to date was 148 tons of marijuana in 2010.

As was reported by the AP,

At least seven sophisticated tunnels under the border have been found in recent years. Roughly the same amount of marijuana seized Thursday was found outside the entrance of a tunnel discovered in Tijuana in 2012.

No arrests were made.
