Applebee's Offers Reward After Manager Shot to Death Outside Restaurant
On Sunday, the night manager of an Applebee’s in Fayetteville, Georgia was found shot to death in the restaurant’s parking lot, the Associated Press reports.
According to police, the body of 27-year-old Gregory Smith was discovered this morning in his car outside the restaurant. From The Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Night manager Gregory Smith was the last person to leave the Applebee’s in Fayetteville on Sunday morning, locking up around 3 a.m.
But the 27-year-old never made it out of the parking lot.
Fayetteville police Lt. Mike Whitlow told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that authorities got a call from Smith’s girlfriend around 6:30 a.m. She told police that, after Smith didn’t come home, she went to the restaurant on North Glynn Street herself.
She found Smith dead inside his vehicle.
Whitlow said the presence of shell casings outside the vehicle indicate Smith’s injuries were not self-inflicted.
“There are surveillance cameras from Applebee’s. We are looking at the tapes right now as we speak,” Whitlow told WAGA-TV. “There are surveillance cameras on all of these surrounding businesses. The trick is to get the right camera at the right angle at the right time.”
The restaurant chain is now offering an unspecified cash reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction for the crime.
